Effective or not? APOLOGY

In the case of the Native American Indians vs. the United States, upholding the oppression; the Native American Indians suffered for many generations and because of theses inhumane doings the outcome mandates a formal apology. In ordinance to this particular apology the importance of the content would be the effect of change it made. To begin the recovery process an apology needs to completed. The question that needs to be addressed is how is this apology going to compensate or heal the pain that these people suffered. The apology was a gesture to honor those people whose rights were violated. Also to further extend the empathy many Tribes were given currency to help pay costs of misfortune. I believe that it is extremely hard to apologize to the Native Americans. The situation could have positive and negative outcomes. This apology could help some individuals with the anger built up inside in relation to their heritage and ancestors. In contrast this apology could offend certain tribes who on their own prevailed and have survived entirely because of strength. It is never too late to admit that one is wrong. I think though that there are certain things that can never be apologized for. This apology categorizes in the middle. It is necessary however may never erase the events that occurred.

MLDA paragraphs

Firstly I believe that if the MLDA was to be lowered the influence that it would have on the adolescent culture of people would be severely negative. Young adults or teens if you will do not have the correct mentality for a decision regarding the consumption of alcohol. Thinking with the naïve mind that all teens have, a teenager perceives drinking as a mission of completion. It is always about how messed up you can get in a short period of time, or how much fun you can have not being responsible for yourself. It is not my fault, I was drunk. That is the alibi that most teens come up with as a just explanation for the unintelligent actions. According to the article written by Sean Flynn, “Should the Drinking Age Be Lowered”, a student at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA concludes this, “We’d sit in our dorm rooms—18- and 19-year-olds—and try to drink as much as possible before going out. I think it goes on at every college. No one cares, even when they get caught. They think a speeding ticket is worse.”(Flynn). Adolescents do come to an age of accountability were they are personally responsible for themselves and their actions. I think that is a theory that is only true in certain circumstances and subjects. In the article written by Kirsten Scharnberg my conclusion and opinion is supported, although also contrasted with a comment made by John McCardell, a former Vermont College President who runs Choose Responsibility, a non-profit group that advocates alcohol education for young adults and favors lowering the drinking age to 18. . "Essentially what the current law says is that until you are 21 you lack the judgment and the maturity to drink," McCardell said. "Yet at the same time, we are a nation that says you can vote, you can sit on a jury, you can sign a legally binding contract, you can get married, you can put your life on the line in combat. It's an unbelievably condescending explanation."(Scharnberg). As a younger crowd is introduced to an “adult” behavior like drinking the outcome will suffer those who are not a part of the action. Life is about choice in general and the other factor that creates outcome is experience. How much life has a person under twenty-one experienced. Not much life at all has been experienced at such a young age.
Another argument that fits the bias of this paper is that lowering the MLDA would allow younger teens to drink; thus, with the privilege of an unknown mind altering substance the outcome would develop poor role modeling characteristics. Everyone has an individual that they look up to. Also whether people believe it or not there is always someone that is looking up to you. Being a mother since the age of fifteen has bestowed a tremendous amount of responsibility on me. Children are known to imitate those actions that are performed in front of them. Watching a young parent and or sibling drink would give a young child the jurisdiction to perform the same action as the opportunity came across. All of the elementary programs promoting the prohibition of drugs and alcohol would be in vane if such actions to lower the MLDA were successful.

MAN MY HEART WAS BEATING....... I know you are supposed to relax before an exam, but I had no idea what to expect for the mid-term. It turned out to be alright though. I am posting this blog to explain my favoritism in the article titled, "Why the Drinking age should be lowered" written by Ruth C. Engs. I had a bias against under age drinking. I even based my paper on the emphasis that the legal drinking age should not be lowered. NEVER!! After reading her opinion on the matter her supporting detail easily persuaded my outlook on the situation. She began the article clearly stating that if allowed to drink, teenagers must obtain and persist with a level of responsibility. She metaphorically explains under age drinking as a form of forbidden fruit. Kids use drinking as a form of rebellion. Her points and explanations were easy for me to comprehend.
I really believe that all the work professor has us complete, is for a specific reason. I don't know the reason yet but I am still doing research!!!!!!lol
Now lets see, I have to go all the way back to my favorite toy. When I was younger I can't even lie my favorite toy was BARBIE too, and to all the girls that won't admit it you don't have to be ashamed. The Barbie dolls always had so many factors in determining the purpose of the doll. I liked the way that I was able to control the Barbie's environment and actions. I was fascinated with all of the different accessories and props that went along with the Barbie. She or even he had what seemed to be a million different outfits, not to mention was the idea idol for young kids to strive after. Barbie always had the perfect body, with the perfect face and smile. I honestly wanted to be perfect like Barbie. I was appreciative to the fact that Barbie could travel where ever I went. We were best friends..... Even though I liked Barbie a lot I eventually grew out of her.
Wow I have finally learned how to post a blog. HURRAY!!!!
